Janet Perez Eckles – igniting a passion to overcome.

Some may ask why I chose to dance.

Complete blindness at 31 and the murder of my youngest son could have filled my days with despair. But because of Christ, I have a song in my heart.

The victory through Him sparked a commitment to ignite in others a passion to overcome. I do this through my work as an international speaker, writer, columnist, women’s Sunday school teacher, Spanish interpreter, missionary, contributor to 35 books including chicken Soup for the Soul and Guidepost books, and author of two books: Trials of Today, Treasures for Tomorrow: Overcoming Adversity in Life, Xulen Press, 2004 and Simply Salsa: Dancing Without Fear at God’s Fiesta, Judson Press, August, 2011.

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri State University, And after graduation, I married Gene, my husband of 35 years. Because of Christ, I triumphed as a blind mom of 3 small sons. And today, I use the same faith and trust in God’s promises to direct my ministry.

When I’m not working I do what I do best—get on the floor and play with my 3 year-old-granddaughter and 18 month-old grandson.

Simply Salsa: Dancing Without Fear at God’s Fiesta, Judson Press, August, 2011 by Janet Perez Eckles.

What keeps women from dancing to the sweet freedom God offers?

With a bit of sass, humor and a uniquely passionate “Latina talk,” Simply Salsa exposes the lies and misconceptions that imprison women today. Simply Salsa is not just a book but a delightful experience to discover the joy lost in life’s struggles, freedom from fear and, with each engaging story, restore confidence to face tomorrow.

No matter the degree of adversity or pain, Simply Salsa will have you dancing to Gods melody of victory over what burdens you today.

Marti Pieper writes:

“Picture yourself seated in a comfortable chair. A luscious Latin melody dances in the background as you spend a few hours with a dear friend. Her smile embraces you like a warm hug. Her openness encourages you to share your heart. And her words of wisdom challenge you to follow the God of boundless love.

This golden afternoon mirrors the experience of reading Janet Perez Eckles’ Simply Salsa: Dancing Without Fear at God’s Fiesta. The book takes a refreshing look at the Christ-life—with a unique Latina flair. Authenticity drives this project, whose author shares her wisdom through real-life stories…”
